我がリッチモンド・フレンドリーの今日のミーティングのテーマは「母の日」でした。
どのトーストマスターズ・クラブでも「即興スピーチセッション」というものがあるのですが、そこで今日のお題は、メンバー自身のお母さんとの思い出などでした。
いや～、これが、メンバーたち、本当に親孝行で、どれだけお母さんのことを感謝しているか、どれだけ母の日に親孝行をするのか、聞いてるこっちが涙腺が崩壊しそうな感動ストーリーのオンパレードでした。
聞いてるこっちは、「あ～、泣きそう～！」と、ぐっと涙をこらえてるというのに、画面を見ると、皆けろっとしていて、カナダ人（厳密に言うと、メンバーはチャイニーズ、インド人、フィリピン人、韓国人なのですが）の涙腺の強さを思い知らされました。、、、とも言えるし、どんだけ私が涙もろいのか、思い知らされた、とも言えます。
最後に「皆で今日のミーティングの感想を言い合いましょう。」という場面でそのことを言ったら、皆に苦笑されました。笑。
、、、と、今日も楽しく、皆の温かい人間味を感じさせられたミーティングでした。

The theme of our Richmond Friendly meeting
today was 'Mother's Day'.
Every Toastmasters club has an 'impromptu
speech session', where today's topic was the member's own memories of their
mother.
They told us how much they appreciate their
mothers, and there was a parade of touching stories that almost made our teary
eyes burst.
As I listened to them, I thought, "Oh,
I'm going to cry!” I was reminded of the strength of the Canadian (to be exact,
the members are Chinese, Indian, Filipina, and Korean) lacrimal gland. I could
also say that I was reminded of how tearful I am.
I was amused by the warmth and humanity of
everyone at the meeting.
